Prior to this post, he served as Commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission〔(SFC Standing Commissioner’s meeting with foreign correspondents )〕 〔 (INVITATION TO THE 42ND SOCIETAS KOREANA LECTURE MEETING ) 〕 from April 2012, as Director General of the Treasury Bureau at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance 〔 (South Korea to buy back T-bonds in March ) 〕 from December 2009 to March 2011 and as Spokesperson for the Financial Services Commission〔(Lehman: Skeptics Doubt a Korean Rescue )〕 〔(Incomplete information mischaraterises bank's strength )〕from 2008 to 2009. From 1997 to 2000, he worked as an economist at the Asian Development Bank in Manila. He was also a senior securities market specialist at the World Bank and International Finance Corporation between 2005 and 2008. During his 30 year career in public service, he worked on a variety of projects related to capital market development, financial policy, and international aid for developing countries. He is an honorary member of the French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He currently serves as Founding Chair of the China Capital Market Society, which was established in 2009 to conduct studies on the Chinese capital market and promote private-sector cooperation between Korea and China’s capital markets. He is the president of the Sciences-Po de Paris Korean Alumni Association.
